$70,000 Refused

"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. Offers of up to 370,000 for Governor Frost have failed to tempt the horse's owner, Mr C. Hadley, a 34-year-old Waiuku farmer. < They were made on behalf of American interests. Several months ago, he refused a bid of 350,000 and he admitted yesterday he had been offered 370,000. "Governor Frost is just not tor sale at this stage, anyway,” Mr Hadley said. “I have had a lot of fun out of him. He has won about 320,000 in stakes and, being only four, he does not look to have reached his limit here.”

Mr Hadley said a race he would dearly like to win was the New Zealand Trotting Cup. He had never previously had a horse eligible for the race, let alone a starter.
