Derby Winner Big Draw

The appearance of Cardinal Garrison in the Cardigan Bay Stakes, the first leg of the T.A.B. double, will be a highlight of the first night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s autumn meeting tomorrow. Cardinal Garrison, already assessed at 2min 12sec, has not long returned from a brief campaign in Australia, where he was unbeaten in three

starts, including the final of the New South Wales Pacing Derby. Earlier he had 11 starts in New Zealand for four wins and five placings,

including a win in the Great Northern Derby. He is reported to have trained on satisfactorily since his return from Australia and he should be too good for most of his rivals.

Canterbury stables will be strongly represented, with Leading Light and Bewitched expected to be the pick of them. However, Lords and Dark Rival are quite capable { of showing up, as also are the northerners, Terraton and Willie Mac. Wairakau, a runaway winner at Addington Raceway on Anzac Day, will probably be a dominating favourite for the second leg, the Blenheim Handicap. Diarac's placing at Forbury Part suggests that he will be a sound prospect, while Rola Coaster, Galaxy, Morris, and Dacron should be prominent. An on-course concession double will be run on the Tawa Handicap and the Silverstream Handicap, the Canterbury horses. Light View and Trampus forming a likely combination. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be in good order. OH-COURSB DOUBLB t. 45 p.m—
