Galway Back At Lyttelton Since her last visit to Lyttelton, the Avenue Shipping Company’s motor vessel Galway, now discharging 2400 tons of United Kingdom cargo at Cashin Quay, has been lengthened to increase her cargo-carrying and earning capacity. The Galway’s length has increased 56ft and her gross tonnage has increased from 6409 tons to 9539 tons. Her deadweight tonnage is now 12,781 tons. Her speed, interestingly enough, has fractionally increased. The work, which consisted of cutting the vessel in half and prefabricating a new section, was done by her original builders.
