1000 At University Graduates Ball
One thousand graduates and guests of the University of Canterbury were received at the universty council’s ball in the Winter Garden last evening. Guests were received- by the Chancellor of the University (the Rt Rev. A. K. Warren) and Mrs Warren, the ViceChancellor of the University (Professor N. C. Phillips) and Mrs Phillips, the Pro-Chancel-lor (Mr T. H. McCombs) and Mrs McCombs, and Professor H. E. Field and Dr Field. They were presented to the,
receiving line by the Registrar (Mr G. G. Turbott) and Mrs Turbott. Mrs Turbott wore a gown in a double-knit silver lurex fabric. It had a high roll collar, short sleeves and an unpressed pleat at the back. Shaping was woven into the knitted fabric of the frock. Mrs Warren wore a simplystyled gown in a white fabric, which was embroidered ’ all over with pink flowers .and crystal beads. It was slim fitting with a square neck. Mrs Phillips wore a Thai silk gown in a pink and blue check, ..with a high neck and cutaway sleeves.
