Asian Leader Conference
Application* are being invited by the Society of Friends for a New Zealander aged between 30 and 40 to take part In a conference for young Asian leader* in Hong Kong from June 15 to 23. About 30 delegates from 18 countries in Asia will discuss the theme of the conference, “Peace and Human Welfare in Asia,” explaining the traditions, concepts of peace and crucial problems in their own countries and the requirements for peace in Asia. The project is sponsored by the American Friends’ Service Committee centres in Japan, but the elerk of the New Zealand yearly meeting of the society, Mr W. N. Johnson, of Christchurch, Mid yesterday that the New Zealand delegate need not be a Quaker. The delegate would have to be prepared to pay most of his own expenses, but some small financial assistance might be available from the American committee. Mr Johnson Mid that two years ago a delegate from New Zealand attended the conference on a U.N.E.S.C.O. travel grant.
