A Melbourne businessman has offered to pay the air fare from Australia to Scotland for a 70-year-old Scottish widow who wants to return home to care for the children of her son. The businessman, who wants to remain anonymous, will give Mn Jessie Wallace $633 for the fare. Her 25-year-old son, Charles Carson, of Adrossan, neat Glasgow, telephoned her from Glasgow on Sunday night pleading with her to return home because ef the death of hit young wife, Helen. Police in Scotland believe Helen was murdered and ar* holding a man in connection with her death. Mn Wailaee Mid Charles asked her to eome home to look after his three children, Alan, aged four, Colin two, and Brian, one. Mn Wallace, a widow after remarrying, is from Perth,
Western Australia, and is holidaying with her son, Mr James Carton, of Caulfield, Melbourne. Mr* Wailaee migrated to Australia 18 months ago on an assisted passage and lives with a daughter in Berth.
Normally, she would have to repay the Immigration Department the full fate for her flight to Australia. However, the department’s Canberra office today waived the usual requirement in Mrs Wallace’s case.
