Policeman’s Transfer
Chief Inspector B. Kelly, who has been stationed at the Christchurch Central Police Station for the last four years, has been transferred to Auckland. He will leave on May 22. Chief Inspector Kelly served for three years on the West Coast, first as a sergeant at Reefton and later as a senior-sergeant at Greymouth.
He was transferred to Christchurch in 1964 and soon after was the organiser of police recruiting in the South Island.
In July, 1965, he went to Cyprus as a member of the police contingent to the United Nations peace-keeping force. After his return to Christchurch he spent some time as inspector in charge of prosecutions. Towards the end of 1966 he was promoted to chief inspector. For the last six months Inspector Kelly and Inspector R P. Silk have been inquiring into future police needs in Christchurch.
