HIGH HOPES FOR MURCHISON WELL

(New Zealand Prets Atiociation) NELSON, May 2. The three main requirements of a “wildcat” well were undoubtedly present in the Blackwater No. 1 well near Murchison, an American oil executive said in Nelson this afternoon.

Mr J. W. Vandeveer was on the way to inspect the well, which is in similar country to areas near Taumarunui in which his company has concessions. “You have a very good chance of getting petroleum here in commercial quantities,” he said. Mr Vandevpor said his company, the Ajujpac Petro-

leum Corporation, had also had “shows” in a well near Taumarunui. It would drill three wells there this year. Mr Vandeveer, whose headquarters are in Dallas, said he was.also in New Zealand to test the feeling of underwriters over "going public with oiir stock.” The reaction so tar had been positive, he said. •
