Bewitched Wins

Bewitched, an unlucky second on the first night of the recent Easter meeting, made amends when she won the Anzac Day Stakes. The lead changed several times and with the pace a muddling one there was considerable jostling.

Bewitched was one of the best beginners, but she was pushed back to eighth at the mile. Dark Rival took the lead from Royal Walk with more than three furlongs left, Bramble Hall tangling soon after when in sixth place. Bay Boa had control on the home turn and led Dark Rival into the straight, with Lords, Bewitched, Leading Light (blocked for a run). Double

Cross, Selwyn Hanover and Bramble Hall showing up. Bewitched moved to the front with about 150 yards to run and she was kept up to her work to win by a neck from Bramble Hall, which did well to finish so close considering his lack of experience.

Leading Light looked unlucky in third place a neck back, with half a length to Bay Boa, which was clear of Lords and the unlucky Double Cross. Then came Morris Pa! and Selwyn Hanover, with a long gap to the others, headed by Santa Claus.

Royal Walk. Morris Pal, Cadane, Selwyn Hanover, and Bramble Hall gave ground at the start.
