900 Attend Parade

Although the annual church parade of the senior members of the Canterbury and West Coast division of the Girls’ Brigade was cancelled because of bad weather, seniors, intermediates and pioneers of the movement turned out in full force for the service in the Durham Street Methodist Church.

Nine hundred and fifty members were at the service, which was conducted by the Rev. L. N. Rawlings, regional chaplain for the Girls’ Brigade. and attended by the Mayor of Christchurch (Sir George Manning) and Lady Manning. The colour bearers were Mrs O. Martini, who presented the regional ensign to the Rev. A. W. Baxter, and Miss A. Garlick, who presented the New Zealand ensign to Mr Rawlings. Mrs B. Hill was the escort.

Taking Up Hems.—When turning up the hem on a dress use pin curls instead of pins and it will hold the hem firmly in position.
