Bicycle Stands

Sir, —“Where, oh where, have all the bicycles gone?" the mournful song could say. and many an irate car-owner could reply: “In the gutter, leaning up against my car.” Why don’t the bicycle-owners put their machines in the provided cycle stands? The answer is simple indeed: scooterowners are so cent-pinching that they have converted the bicycle stands round Christchurch into scooter stands. What’s wrong with parking meters, anyway? Meter maids should accept the challenge. What about a ticket for these people? All I want is somewhere to put my bike. Is that too much to ask?—Yours, etc.. PEEVED PEDAL-PUSHER. April 20, 1968.
