WORST JAM ON BRIDGE

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 22. The worst traffic jam yet on the Auckland harbour bridge early this morning caused vehicles to back up from the centre of the bridge to Takapuna and the start of the Northern Motorway. Thousands of Aucklanders were late for work as a result of a three-car smash at 7.15 a.m. At one stage vehicles took seven minutes to cover the last quarter of a mile from the motorway to the toll plaza—just over 2 m.p.h.
