TROTTING Bewitched Looks Sound Addington Prospect
Bewitched, one of only two runners on the limit, looks set for a win in the President’s Stakes at Addington Raceway today. She looked most unlucky when she ran Bay Boa to half a length in the corresponding race on the first night of the meeting.
That race was Bewitched’s first since she was injured in December. She is expected to show sharp improvement as a result of the run and with slightly better fortune in the running, she should just about win.
Dark Rival, too, looked a shade unlucky the first night. He did not receive a good run early and then attempted to slip the field on the home turn. It was close to home that he was mastered. He should again take beating. Bay Boa will be trying for
his fourth successive win. His efforts in the last month suggest that the task might not be beyond him. There was much merit in his win a fortnight ago as he covered considerable extra ground in the middle stages. Cadane, Double Cross, Waratah and Royal Walk are others expected to race well. The President’s Stakes is the first leg of the on-course double, the Easter Cup Consolation Race being the second. Humphrey is the prob-
able favourite for the second leg. He did well to finish fifth over two miles last Saturday at his only start for the meeting. Co Pilot went well enough in the heats to be given a sound chance, while Abbey Frost, Snowline and Stereo Scott could also add interest to the meeting. After two days of torrential rain there was good drying yesterday. If there is no further rain the track will be in good order.
