British Books
Britain's publishers have announced a record figure for book sales to other countries of £60,000,000 during last year—a 100 per cent increase in seven years.
The Publishers’ Association, representing 260 British publishing houses, also reports a record turnover of £140,000,000 last year. These figures compare with a turnover of £120,000.000 and sales to other countries of £51,000,000 in 1966. The British book industry last year produced 29,619 titles, including over 1000 translations. More than 200,000 British books are currently in print
