(N.Z. Press Association > AUCKLAND The first New Zealand paraplegic sports meeting began yesterday, with indoor bowls, weight-lifting, darts and snooker. Thirty-two competitors, 12 of them from the South Island, are taking part. Results: Snooker.—Second round: D Leith (Auckland) beat J. Lyons (Christchurch), 21-4: W. Lean (Otago) beat J. Savage (Auck land), 34-23: F. Food (Auck land) beat W. Plessius (Auck land). 34-2: C. McDonald (Auck land) beat N. Brown (Auckland). 58-27. Bowls. —First round: McDonald beat P. Stott (Invercargill). 5-3; Lyons beat Brown, 5-4; G. Tapper (Christchurch) beat Savage. 4-1: Lean beat N. An derson (Auckland). 2-1. ; Darts. —First round: E. Lee (Auckland) beat Brown. 1-0: Savage beat Close; R. Ngata (Auckland) defaulted to McDon aid. Weight-lifting (Press). Heavy-weight: Lean, 2901 b. Middle-weight.
