READING HISTORY
Prince Charles To Change (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, April 9. Prince Charles was reported today to have decided to give up his course of anthropology and archaeology at Cambridge in favour of history. Charles Greville said in the “Daily Mail” that the Prince did not seem to have found the subjects as “all-absorbing as he had hoped.” Greville said the Master of Trinity, Lord Butler, thought history had its advantages for “sheer education” and it was a more appropriate subject for the heir to the throne. “But,” Lord Butler told Greville. “1 would also like to say that the Prince will not have wasted his time on the course he is doing now. “It will always remain an interest. He has been doing very well in it.” Greville said that Prince Charles was due to take his “prelims” in archaeology and anthropology. Buckingham Palace says, according to Greville, the reason for the change is that as the Prince is not going to become a professional archaeologist he does not want professional qualifications and “it is felt that a history course may have more relevance.”
