CAMBRIDGE. The Bren Langford Memorial competition for junior hurdle Jockeys, sponsored by the Northern Hurdle Horsemen's Association, will begin on Saturday.
Jockeys who have ridden five or fewer winners over fences before Easter are eligible for the competition, which will end on August 31. Four points are awarded for a first placing, two for second and one for third in either hurdle or steeplechase events. This will be the fourth season the association has sponsored the competition in memory of the late B. J. Langford, who died after a race fall at Tauherenikau In 1964.
R. J. Leggett, G. C. Mee and G. N. McLlesh are the previous winners of the award.
