•‘The Press' 1 Special Service INVERCARGILL. Vdlante may not start on the first day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Biccarton on Monday.

She will be taken to Biecarton at the week-end, but her part-owner, Mr D. Perrlam, said yesterday that she was by no means a definite starter in the Champagne Stakes. “We are not particularly anxious to tackle the north’s best at set weights on Monday, and it is quite possible she will be reserved for the later days," he said.

No rider has been engaged for the Denagh filly.
