B.H.P. stole the limelight yesterday on the Sydney Stock Exchange when the shares rose 50c to 1895 c. Just before the close of trading the shares reached a high of 1900 c which was a high for the day. A drilling report is expected to be issued today.
Mining stocks were also slightly firmer. Nickel stocks gained ground. Western Mining Corporation gained 52c to 768 c, while Great Boulder Gold Mines put on 20c to 550 c. Leaders continued to move higher on the Melbourne Stock Exchange yesterday. 8.H.P., up 55c to 1900 c, was outstanding, with other gains mostly under sc. A.C.I. moved against the trend, losing 14c to 290 c, and Tooth dropped 34c to 566 c.
C.R.A. rose 60c to 1360 c, and Western Mining was up 28c to 756 c to lead a strong minings section.
