HELP FOR CHILDREN

With the great amount of publicity being given to the war in Vietnam, it was possible that too much money could be directed to help children in the area, said the Director-General of the Save the Children Fund (Sir Colin Thornley), in Christchurch on Saturday. Sir Colin Thornley said at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Save the Children Fund that children were dying in other parts of the world as well as in Vietnam and that they were just as much in need of help as Vietnamese children, although their needs were not made so public. “1 ask that the maximum sum to be available in London for us to allocate out of general funds to these other needy areas; there is nothing wrong with sending money to us which is tagged for some particular project, but we would like to have as much as possible to use as we think fit,” Sir Colin Thornley said.
