EISENHOWER TROPHY
Team Named In August
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON.
The New Zealand golf team to contest the Eisenhower Trophy world event in Australia in October will be announced by the national selectors after the North and South Island championships on August 24 and 25. This will leave five or six weeks before the international match.
Last year’s selectors. Messrs V. C. Hollis (Waikato, convener), J. A. Scouler (Dunedin), and J. G. Slade (Hutt), were re-elected unopposed at Saturday’s New Zealand council meeting. It was agreed to suggest to the Australian Golf Union that the Sloan Morpeth Trophy competition between the two countries might be played before the Eisenhower.
The 1969 Freyberg Rosebowl tournament was fixed for May 7 to 10 at Hutt. I
The council also accepted an application from the Springfield club, Rotorua, to hold the 1968 New Zealand boys’ championship in the August holidays. Applications will now be called from Canterbury for the 1969 event.
