Opening Race To Paviell
A. A. Paviell just managed to beat G. R. Sword to win the Avon Amateur Cycling Club’s opening day 30-mile race at Yaldhurst on Saturday. D. Jones was the early pacesetter but could manage only fourth place in the final sprint. Results were:
30 Miles.—A grade: Paviell, 1:9:1, 1; Sword, 1:9:2, 2; B. J. Timms, 1:9:3, 3; D. Jones, 1:3:4,
20 Miles.—B grade: N. G. Clarke. 51:31.0, 1: R. G. Fowler. 51:31.2. 2; R. G. Hogarth. 51:31.4 3; J. W. Beresford, 51:32.0. 4
10 Miles.—Novice Handicap: B. Reid (s}min). 33:32.0. 1: G. Sword (7imin), 41:32.0, 2; P L. Lindsay (scr), 34:55.0, 3.
