Cleland in form

A former Woodward Cup player from Russley, P. K. Cleland, has become a strong prospect for the Auckland golf team at this year’s Freyberg Rose Bowl tournament. The Auckland side is chosen purely on scores returned over several tournaments; this year the five players with the best aggregates will represent the province. Cleland has held his own against a host of good players and has been named as No. 4 in the side to play Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawke’s Bay in a quadrangular tournament. Ahead of Cleland are B. C. Rafferty. K. R. Hankin, and B. P. Vezich all members of the Rose Bowl winning team of last year, while behind him are the New Zealand representatives, B. A. Stevens, and the talented R. D. Gillespie.
