Advice To Buyers
Purchasing officers must assist in combating the national tendency to increase prices, Mr S. H. Oswin, of Auckland, a vice-president, told the New Zealand Pur chasing Officers' Association in Christchurch this week. Prices should be reduced to enable New Zealand industry to become more competitive in the export field, he said. This could be achieved by improved methods and perhaps alternative production and manufacturing techniques, but with the supplier still enjoying his treasonable margin Of profit. In many cases it was possible for purchasing officers to buy at pre-devaluation prices, Mr Oswin said.
