SLOGANS IN PARK

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, March 18.

The slogan, “Jobs not guns for youth,” was one of a number printed on concrete areas, steps, paths and the bases of monuments in Albert Park last night. Some were in chalk, but many were in red paint and a few in white paint. Other slogans read: “No N.Z. Troops for U.S. War,” “Holyoake for ex-P.M.,” “Dump 5.E.A.T.0.,” and “National Shipping Line for N.Z.”

Police are investigating. Auckland City Council workmen will remove the slogans. Those, on the steps or fountain edge can be painted over, but those on stone monument bases might prove more difficult.
