PROSPECTING RIGHTS
An application by a Christchurch contractor, Mr J. H. Cameron, to the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr N. S. Coad) for exclusive prospecting rights over 1320 acres of land at Glentui was adjourned until April 4 at a hearing in the Warden’s Court in Christchurch. Mr R. J. De Goldi, who represented the owner of the land, Mr A. J. MacDonald, said Mr MacDonald was uot prepared to give his consent for use of the land until sufficient details of the manner of the prospecting had been given. Mr Cameron applied for a three-week adjournment to supply the details. He also applied to have the application amended to exclude the other applicant. Mr J. E. Elley, who did not appear at the hearing and was not represented. This application was also adjourned to the same date. The applicants have listed 36 minerals they are interested in. They have already had samples of some minerals assayed. The land is in bill country on the north side of the Ashley River.
