Scouts Sell Compost

Between 100 and 150 scouts and parents from nine groups in the Rimu District sold 21 tons of compost in the Riccarton and Sockburn areas on Saturday. Mr E. Howard, the Area Commissioner, said the sales were not quite as successful as expected and there still remained about 20 tons to be sold.

The compost, which is active and ready to apply, was manufactured by an Oamaru company and was sold for 80c a 251 b bag. The Hornby group, which was not able to take part on Saturday will be selling the compost next Saturday. Profits from the sales will go to the individual groups.
