Country Rubbish Dump

Sir, —As a regular user of the Darfield-Coalgate Road I am amazed that an otherwise seemingly progressive council fails to remove the disgracefully untidy rubbish dump from the Hawkins riverbed adjacent to this road. Surely an hour or so with council plant could form a track to a less conspicuous spot for people to dump their litter.—Yours, etc., ROADSIDE DUMP. March 6, 1968.

[The Malvern County Clerk (Mr B. W. Perrin) replies: “It is not council policy to reply to anonymous correspondents through newspaper columns, but if your correspondent cares to call at the county office he will be informed of the alternatives being considered by the council to resite this rubbish tip.”]
