Success Again

Two clubs—North Linwood and Edgeware—which succeeded in senior tennis grades on Saturday, also triumphed in two lower grades. North Linwood has had many wins in the senior reserve grade in recent years and it added another when it beat St Albans by 4 matches to 2 in the final round. The final points for leading teams were.—North Linwood 114, Fendalton 107, Shirley 94, St Albans 92. Members of the winning team were K. Baker. B. Partridge, J. Beatty, and I. Salkeld. The final round in the second men’s grade will be played next Saturday. In section 1. St Albans leads, with 112 points, from United 95, Edgeware 89. and Riccarton Domain 85. In section II the leader is Fendalton, with 134, to Linwood Avenue's 122. Edgeware won the second grade mixed. The winner of section 11, it beat the section I winner. North Linwood, by 10 matches to 6 in the sectional play-off. Members of the winning team were R. Goodman, .1. Dickey, .1. Long, J. Daue, Misses F. Hindson, G. Iredale, C. Ireland, and D. Norris. Results: SENIOR RESERVE North Linwood I beat St Albans by 4 matches to 2; Shirley beat Linwood Avenue by 4 matches to 2: Fendalton beat, North Linwood II by 6 matches to 0: United beat Opawa by 6 matches to 0: Sumner beat Avonside by default. SECOND GRADE MEN Section I St Albans beat North Linwood by 6 matches to 0; Edgeware beat Riccarton Domain by 4 matches to 2; United beat South Christchurch by default. Section II Shirley beat Spreydon by 4 matches to 2; Linwood Avenue beat St Martins by 6 matches to 0; Fendalton beat Riccarton Domain by default. FIRST MIXED B Woolston beat Fendalton by 13 matches to 3; Shirley beat Waimairi by 10 matches to 5; Elmwood beat Cashmere by 13 matches to 3.
