OBITUARY Mrs D. Cook

Mrs Daisy Cook, a former soloist with the Royal Christchurch Musical Society and a well-known singing and pianoforte teacher, died at her home recently. She was aged 85. Before her marriage, Mrs Cook, then Daisy Lezard, was a soprano soloist, pianist and accompanist. An active member of the music circle of the Canterbury Women’s Club and Idlers’ Club, she gave and organised many musical activities. As a music teacher Mrs Cook had a long career and taught until she was 80, She gave special assistance to school teachers seeking help in school musical activities. Her husband and two sons, one of whom is the present musie master of St Andrew’s College, were members of the Christchurch Cathedral choir and her daughter a member of the Christchurch Operatic Society. She is survived by her children.
