FACIAL ECZEMA
N.I. Farmer Claims Cure (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, March 17. A Poverty Bay farmer claims he has found a cure for facial eczema in sheep. He is Mr V. R. Field, of Homebush, Hexton, who said today that he had proved that the trouble could be prevented. Mr Field, who said he had been working on a cure for the disease since 1931, has been testing a new drug over the last three years. Last year seven infected sheep from Waihirere blocks were treated with the drug and later killed at the Kaiti freezing works, and passed for export. Mr H. Crooks, manager of Waihirere blocks, said that about 800 of his sheep were under treatmen now. He was convinced of the efficiency of the cure and was amazed at the recovery made by the sheep treated last year.
