Le Bons Bay Beaten PENINSULA Le Bons, champion cricket team in the Banks Peninsula competition for 1967-68, lost its final game to Little River on Saturday. The result did not affect the championship placings, but it enabled Little River to tie with Le Bons for the Lavericks Cup, a competition decided over the last two rounds of the championship. A feature of Saturday’s matches was the good batting in the Akaroa-Dlamond Harbour match. T. Rhodes made 120 for Akaroa and P. Staple-ton-Smith scored 114 for Diamond Harbour. Scores:— Little River 177/5 (L. Morrison 71, D. Mason 40, D. Mitchell 30 not out; J. Mclntosh 3/43) beat Le Bons 174/7 dec. (C. McKay 20, P. Johnston 56, J. Mclntosh 37; M. Johnston 4/75, D. Mitchell 2/56). Akaroa 260 (T. Rhodes 120, J. Carradus 34, T. Haley 48; T. Turner 3/67, E. Allen 2/60) beat Diamond Harbour 250 (P. Stapleton-Smith 114, F. Blakeley 62; J. Carradus 5/70, R. Langrope 3/60). Wainui 177/6 (D. McPhail 34, I. Clausen 21, J. Hutchinson 54, T. Hutchinson 35; K. Stuart 2/0) beat United 137 (Peter Haglund 67, W. Stuart 21; J. Stronach 5/37, D. McPhail 2/27, J. Palmer 2/16).

Lanauze, B. Neal, P. McKay (twelfth man). MALVERN A. F. Wright had the fine double of five wickets and 46 not out for Sheffield in Malvern cricket. The highest scorer of the day was R. Gunn (Darfleld Juniors), while P. Blakely (Hororata) took six wickets. Scores: South Malvern 192/5 dec. (R. Stewart 52, A. Karst 40 not out, G. Inch 38; M. Pettit 2/33, G. Dawson 2/35) drew with Darfleld Juniors 148/3 (R. Gunn 63 not out, L. Mintrom 33). Kirwee 216/7 (D. Bullock 52, A. Wall 48; P. Blakely 6/80, N. Rothwell 1/59) beat Hororata 115 (C. Adams 55; B. McKay 4/15, S. Reardon 3/41). Greendale 87 (P. Pascoe 28, D. Foster 18; A. Wright 5/13, K. Howarth 2/27) lost to Sheffield 92/1 (Wright 46 not out, Howarth 28 not out). Bonus points were won by South Malvern, Kirweo and Sheffield. Darfleld had the bye.
