West-University Wins Convincingly
West-University maintained its unbeaten record this season when it scored a convincing victory by eight wickets over Lancaster Park on Hagley No.
Only seven hours and a half playing time was necessarv in the low-scoring game. Lancaster Park’s second innings was a repetition of its woefully weak first-innings display. With the wicket producing few of its previous week’s tricks, the game was poised for Lancaster Park to set West a good target in its second innings. However, this was not to be as the Park batsmen pushed, proded and got out against the West spin attack, which looked far from dangerous.
R. Gearry was the only exception, repeating his firstinnings effort with another forthright display. The pick of the WestUniversity bowlers was Sharp, whose flight and accuracy were impeccable. He finished with the excellent figures of three for 11 off 16 overs.
Kirk, the destroyer of Park’s first innings, did not bowl particularly well, but collected four more wickets to finish with the outstanding match analysis of 10 wickets for 41.
West took little time to score the 77 runs required for its w ? n ‘ «_Allen and Hastings attacking at every opportunity, the winning run was hit soon after 3 p.m. Umpires: Messrs J. Streeter and P. Prosser.
