(New Zealand Pr«M Association; MASTERTON, March 17. A top-dressing pilot was killed when his aircraft crashed and burst into flames at Whangaehu, seven miles from Masterton this afternoon. He was

lAN GEORGE TIBLING, aged 27, a single man, of Masterton. The aircraft, a $20,000 Callair belonging to Air Contracts Ltd, crashed into the side of a gully only a few hundred yards from the road. The undercarriage was ripped from the fuselage as the plane bounced nearly 50 yards before crashing into the ground and exploding in flames. Burning fuel and wreckage blackened the grass over a wide area. Debris was scattered over hundreds of feet, only, the twisted metal airframe remaining. The pilot, who had been spreading superphosphate on

surrounding hills during the afternoon, is believed to have attempted to jettison his load before the impact
