NEW BILL TO AID NEGROES

(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, March 13. The United States Senate has given final approval to a bill which strengthens Negro rights and guarantees equal housing opportunities to most Americans. The 71-to-20 vote came after seven weeks of debate and cleared the way for the Senate to consider other legislation. The measure will be subject to revision in a conference of the Senate and House legislators, and strong opposition to its open-housing section is expected from House of Representatives members because it proposes to ban discrimination in the sale or rental of almost 80 per cent of American homes.
