Big Mile Tonight
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY. The New Zealand pacer, Great Adios, has a great chance of making up for his failure in last month’s Inter-Dominion Championships in Auckland by winning the $17,500 Miracle Mile at Harold Park tonight. But it will be no easy task, and Sydney trotting fans are expecting a tremendous tussle between the New Zealander and the Australian star, Halwes.
There will be four other starters in the glamour event, the Inter-Dominion winner, First Lee (N.S.W.), Cardinal Bruce (N.S.W.), and the Victorians, Macaree and Adaptor. But betting interest in the early market centres on Great Adios and Halwes. Bookmakers yesterday had Halwes a clear favourite at 6 to 4, with Great Adios at 5 to 2. First Lee and Adaptor share the third line at 5 to 1.
