Smart Young Trotter
Western Valley, a two-year-old trotter, attracted great interest when he was worked at Addington Raceway yesterday morning. Accompanied by an unnamed pacer, he went easily over 12 furlongs in 3min 41 4-ssec, the last half mile in Imln 7 4-ssec, and the final quarter in 33 3-5 sec. He gave a flawless display and was unperturbed when two other horses joined in on his outer over the final furlong. Trained at West Melton by J. D. Litten for Mrs Litten, Western Valley is a colt by Fallacy from Coronita, the dam of Sunset Chief, a useful winner in Sydney. It was the first occasion Western Valley had been off his property since he was foaled, said Litten, who has every cause to speak enthusiastically about the colt. Western Valley is being prepared for a 81000 non-totali-sator race at Addington Raceway in May.
