U.K. Insurance Merger Talks
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter) LONDON, March 5. A £654m merger is being discussed between the Royal Exchange Assurance and Guardian Assurance. In recent months both have been strongly suggested as prospects for takeovers in the rationalisation that is generally agreed to be necessary in the insurance industry. A few days ago the companies called in merchant bank advisors who have been working out possible forms and methods for affecting the merger.
