Beginnings Of Avon
“I was horrified at the neglect of the beginnings of the Avon River,” said Mrs W. S. Mac Gibbon at a meeting of the Christchurch Civic Trust. She said that after the showing of a film on the Avon to the wives of delegates to the A.N.Z.A.A.S. congress in Christchurch she made a trip to Avonhead. The springs were on private property, and it was not possible to see them, Mrs MacGibbon said. She said she hoped the people involved would clear up the surroundings “and at least recognise that it is the beginnings of the River Avon.”
