ARISTOC SORE
Five In Stakes “The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. There will probably be only five runners in the Nwrth Island Challenge Stakes at’ Trentham on Saturday. » Aristoc was sore after cooling off at Awapuni yesterday, and it seems certain that he will be put aside until the tracks ease. His stablemate, Serena, will run in the Challenge Stakes. She worked well, as did Palamos, which is engaged on the second day in the Wakefield Challenge Stakes. Aristoc worked on the plough with High Brow, which shaded him at the finish of six furlongs in Imin 21sec, the last three in 41sec. Aristoc pulled up well enough, but was sore half an hour later. A bony growth above the pastern has been troubling him. Goldenise pleased when running six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last five in Imin 3 4-ssec, and the final three in 39 l-ssec. Kev and Gold Mint completed seven furlongs in Imin 33 2-ssec, the last three in 42sec. They are in good fettle for Trentham. Balyn and Sail Away were working on the bit at the finish of seven furlongs in Imin 35sec, the last three in 41sec. Supa, which is fresh, galloped easily throughout half a mile in 54sec, the last three in 39sec. Wilma Rudolph was going easily over five furlongs in Imin B|sec, the last three in 41sec. On the course proper Palamos ran away from Stormy King at the end of half a mile in 49 2-ssec, the last three in 37 l-ssec. .Serena was in her usual fine form when compelling half a mile in 51sec, the last three in 38sec. Prince D’Amour jumped four hurdles. He got in close to the last, but otherwise gave a promising showing.
