Soon before • a.m. track Matchers were startled when a horse arrived at full gallop, careered around the car park and dashed on to the course proper. He was wearing a cover, but a search of the course showed no sign of his handler. The horse was eventually caught, and stabled until the Ellerslie trainer M. Ritchie arrived later in search of his charge, by then identified as Thunder GoM. The two-year-old. which arrived by float last night after an uneventful trip, is likely to be one of the favourites in the Plunket Nursery Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. He will be ridden by G. F. Hughes. A big strong gelding by Final Court from Gold Oman. Thunder Gold won impressively at Te Rapa a fortnight ago at his third start. Kmtyre (C. S. Carrick) ran a brilliant half-mile on the outside of the course proper. He quickly reached top speed and clocked 47 l-ssec. the last three furlongs in 34 l-ssec. Ardfern, is slightly off colour and will not fulfil her engagement in the Waipua Handicap at the Masterton meeting. Tne trainer-jockey. L. N. McCutcheon, has relinquished his position as private trainer to Mr P. Louis and is living in Hawea. The apprentice. N. J. Nicol, is still with McCutcheon.
