Opera House In 1972
The controversial Sydney Opera House, on the shore of Sydney Harbour, will be completed in 1971.Announcing this, the New South Wales Minister for Public Works, Davis Hughes, said work on the final stage
of the building would begin in six weeks. Because of rising costs, the opera house has been the centre of controversy for many years. Its cost has spiralled from about SN.Z.IOm, the original estimate in the late 19505, to an unknown sum.
