NORSEWOOD FESTIVAL

Scandinavian Day (N.Z. Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, Feb. 25. More than 2000 people thronged the township as Norsewood celebrated its Scandinavian day yesterday. Residents grew beards for the occasion: and schoolchildren ti. sed in traditional costume danced in the main street. i Among visitors were the 'Swedish and Danish Ambassadors to New Zealand, and I the Norwegian Consul. The township is well known for its pioneer museum which contains relics used by early settlers mainly of ScandinavI ian descent. Funds from the | celebration will be used to • pay for extensions to the museum.
