Winter’s Toll In Turkey
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ISTANBUL, Feb. 7. Heavy snows and floods sweeping eastern and southern Turkey left at least 10 people dead, including a train driver who was killed beneath the wheels of his snowbound train near Elazig as he tried to free it The tenth victim was a 13-year-old boy killed in a quarrel with his cousin over precious firewood.
Four villagers died when their houses collapsed under the weight of snow, and four more in an avalanche.
