INDONESIAN VISIT

The Australian External Affairs Minister, Mr Paul Hasluck, will arrive in Indonesia tomorrow for talks on SouthEast Asian security in the light of British plans to speed its military withdrawal from the region. He will meet the Acting President, General Suharto and the Foreign Minister, Mr Adam Malik, during his two day stay which is after his visits to Malaysia and Singapore. The associated press reported that Mr Hasluckyesterday met the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak and was scheduled to meet the Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, for further discussions today. Earlier, he told reporters before leaving Singapore that the Vietnam situation made it “urgent and necessary” for Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Malaysia and Singapore to meet and discuss new regional defence arrangements to take effect after the British withdrawal.
