GEN. FOODS INTERIM ‘SATISFACTORY’
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, February 7.
Turnover of General Foods Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd, Auckland, for the six months to October 31, had been maintained at a satisfactory level, directors say in their interim report.
Devaluation had lent fresh Impetus to the company’s already well established exporttrade and had opened doors in areas in which it was previously impossible to compete. Although this benefit would not be felt to any marked degree in the current year, prospects for the future fully justified the development outlay involved. Development of the poul-
try division to its target level of production was satisfactory and would be materially assisted, by A. Tegel Pty, Ltd, a new breeding establishment. Satisfactory Outcome Provided there was no more serious downturn in the economy, directors expected a satisfactory outcome for the current financial year. A steady interim dividend of 4 per cent will be paid on February 29, ex February 16.
