Fijians In A Hurry

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Scoring 79 runs in less than 20 minutes, the touring Fijian cricket team beat Franklin by six wickets at Papakura yester day. Earlier, the tourists had snatched a first innings lead of 13 runs over Franklin's total of 221.

N. Uluiviti crashed a splendid six which hit the roof of the clubhouse, but even this was bettered later in the day when A. Waqatabu cleared the ground with a mighty stroke. But the force of the Fijians* batting could best be described by the Franklin off-spinner, R. Tracy. Following through after a delivery, he was struck on the forehead by the ball which left a gaping wound and then sped to the boundary for four.

Scores: Franklin 221 (R Wright 57, N. Harford 44. G. Nottage 42; N. Uluiviti 5/51) and 88/2 (Harford 42 not out), Fiji 234 (G. Jemnadas 48, Uluiviti 45) and 78/4 (S. Vodoqiqi 50).
