RENOVATION OF COURTS

Domain Board Decision

Renovation of the tennis courts at Selwyn Huts may begin soon, it was decided at a meeting of the Springston South Domain Board in Christchurch yesterday. The board will pay for the material if the tennis club provides some of the labour. A letter from the tennis club said it was concerned at the deterioration of the courts. It recommended the board repair cracks and holes in the courts, remove convulvulus from the courts and surrounds, supply new post butts for the wire netting, new surround boards, and a new gate. “They use the courts and we don’t,” said Mr F. von Sierakowski, the board chairman. “They get the money from it but they won’t do anything.” Resignations from Messrs G. M. Doyle and N. R. Searell were received and accepted. Nominations for the three vacancies on the board will be called, and a public meeting held at Selwyn Huts on March 9.
