The Unemployed
Sir,—Poor Mr Hill! He has discovered that “certain people are trying to use the I unemployed for their own
political theories.” What was the Federation of Labour holding those stop-work meetings for? Not using the unemployed to push the Labour line? Oh dear, no! And how long has Mr Hill, and his union comrades, been extracting Labour Party funds from the country’s workers via union dues? Not long ago a weekly newspaper printed a letter from the Communist Party to a prominent union official giving him instructions on strike tactics; the official (stilt in office) made no attempt to deny the charge. Mr G. M. Edmonds has a lot to learn from Mr Hill and his friends about using organisations for political purposes.—Yours, etc., S.G.F. February 4, 1968. J
