METHODIST INDUCTION

Mr C. R. Hasseldine, who was recently appointed the first general-treasurer of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, took up his new position at the Methodist Church’s conhexional office in Christchurch on Thursday. For the last four years, Mr Hasseldine, who is a member of the congregation of St Mark’s, Somerfield, has been lecturing in accountancy at the University of Canterbury. He will be formally inducted by the deputy-chairman of the North Canterbury district (the Rev. H. C. Matthews) at a service at the Durham Street Methodist Church on February 11 at 7 p.m. The charge will be given by the general secretary of the Methodist Church in New Zealand (the Rev. W. R. Laws).

Mr' Laws said it was hoped that members of the various Methodist Church boards in Christchurch and members of the standing committee of the North Canterbury Methodist Synod, would attend. During the service the new assistant minister at the Durham Street circuit (the Rev. G. Sweet) will be introduced to the congregation.
